Chapter 43- THE FILE MY FATHER WOULD NOT RELEASEWe escaped through a maintenance corridor behind the storage units.

My father had prepared the route years earlier.
In an old delivery van, he explained that Peter had become the financial strategist behind the Holloway operation. Grant was the public face. Vivian controlled the family. Peter controlled the records, law enforcement contacts and disposal of witnesses.
“Why stay hidden this long?” I asked.
“Because I lacked the master ledger.”
“What changed?”
“You found it.”
“The flash drive?”
He nodded.
Natalie had unknowingly copied the encrypted ledger when she accessed Grant’s server. My father possessed the decryption key.
Together, they could expose every hospital, contractor, official and shell company in the network.
“Then give Mercer the key.”
My father gripped the steering wheel.
“I don’t trust Mercer.”
“He saved us.”
“He was also the last person who saw your mother alive.”
The van fell silent.

My father looked at me.
“Your mother was not killed by the Holloways.”
