Chapter 40- NATALIE’S MARRIAGE HAD ENDED THE SAME WAYNatalie had never believed her husband’s death was accidental.

Michael had discovered unusual shipments leaving the company warehouse after midnight. Two days before his death, he told Natalie he planned to confront Grant.

Grant claimed Michael had fallen while climbing into a tree stand.

There had been no investigation.

The responding officer was the same man who tried to arrest me outside Mr. Reeves’s house.

Natalie had remained silent because Vivian threatened to take her sons and expose documents making Michael look like an embezzler.

“They used the same method on both of us,” she said. “They made sure the evidence always pointed toward the spouse.”

The elevator doors were forced open.

Mercer pulled us into the hallway.

The traitorous agent was identified as Thomas Vance, a twelve-year veteran assigned to financial crimes.

On his phone, investigators found one unsent message:

THE WIFE HAS THE DRIVE. THE GIRL HAS THE VIDEO.

It was addressed to a number registered to Peter Holloway.

The quiet brother who claimed he was merely following orders had been directing the entire cleanup.
