Chapter 5 - Logan Admitted One LieRachel confronted Logan at their house.

Frank stayed near the kitchen doorway.

Rachel sat at the dining table, still protecting her bruised ribs.

“Were you at the garage at 2:13?”

Logan looked at Frank.

Then back at Rachel.

“Yes.”

Rachel’s face hardened.

“You told me you weren’t.”

“I said I didn’t touch your car.”

“That is not what you said.”

Logan exhaled.

“I went there for financial records.”

“At two in the morning?”

“I couldn’t sleep.”

Frank almost laughed.

Rachel didn’t.

“What records?”

“The Caldwell projections.”

“Why?”

“Because I knew you were planning to leave.”

Rachel’s eyes narrowed.

“You printed my email.”

Logan did not deny it.

“Yes.”

One lie had finally cracked.

Frank leaned forward.

“Did you cut the brake line?”

“No.”

“Did you touch Rachel’s car?”

“No.”

“Then why hide being there?”

“Because the finances are worse than Rachel knows.”

Silence.

Then Logan looked at Rachel.

“You want to know who you should question?”

Frank frowned.

“Who?”

“Ask Mason why he tried to stop Rachel from racing two weeks ago.”

Rachel went still.

Frank remembered an argument between Rachel and Mason before an earlier race.

At the time, he thought it had been about setup.

Now Logan had given that argument an entirely different meaning.
