Chapter 14 - Diane Saw the Man Everyone MissedDiane admitted being at the garage.

Rachel looked stunned.

“Mom?”

“I followed Logan.”

Diane had suspected he was hiding financial trouble.

When she saw him leave home after two in the morning, she followed his truck.

From across the industrial lot, she saw another vehicle arrive.

Evan Bennett.

“Why didn’t you tell anyone?”

“I thought Logan was holding a secret business meeting.”

“He was.”

Diane nodded.

“I entered the garage for less than a minute.”

Frank leaned forward.

“Did you touch Rachel’s car?”

“No.”

“Did you see anyone else?”

Diane thought carefully.

“Someone came out before I went inside.”

“Who?”

“I didn’t recognize him then.”

Her eyes moved toward the framed team photographs on the office wall.

Then she pointed.

An old Harwood Racing crew photograph.

Frank followed her finger.

Scott Vance.

A former mechanic fired six months earlier for repeated safety violations.

Now employed by Bennett Performance.

The case suddenly narrowed.

Scott had the knowledge.

He had access through Bennett.

And he had a reason to hate Harwood Racing.

But one question still mattered.

May you like

Had Scott acted alone?

Or had someone sent him?
