The detective obtained a warrant covering the gray document case after investigators established that Luke stored medical and financial records connected to the alleged abuse.
Inside were copies of Caroline’s pregnancy files.
Some matched the hospital records.
Others did not.
The copies Luke kept for Caroline omitted pages containing genetic results.
The complete versions contained them.
Someone had deliberately created two sets.
The detective also found invoices from a private medical-records service Evelyn used through the Mercer company’s executive health plan.
That explained how she obtained information so quickly.

A handwriting examiner could not instantly determine who signed Caroline’s name, but metadata from scanned forms showed they were uploaded from the Mercer company’s administrative office.
Evelyn had worked there almost every weekday until the previous year.
Luke had access too.
Caroline remembered another clue.
Evelyn always insisted on driving her home after pregnancy appointments.
She usually carried the paperwork.

The review showed repeated logins from an unfamiliar device.
The recovery email belonged to Luke.
The phone number belonged to Evelyn.
The two of them had built shared access around Caroline without ever openly asking permission.
When investigators asked Evelyn for an interview, she declined through counsel.
Luke agreed to speak.
