CHAPTER 5

CHAPTER 5 - THOUSANDS OF WITNESSES
By midnight, the livestream had passed forty thousand viewers.
Mia kept glancing at Sabrina like she was watching a quiet storm form in real time.
Sabrina leaned closer to the camera.
“They think age makes a woman disappear,” she said.
Her voice did not tremble.
The comments exploded.
Who is she talking about?
This feels personal.
Why do I feel like someone is about to get exposed?
Mia whispered, “Are you sure?”
Sabrina picked up the old photograph from the vanity table but kept it partly hidden under her palm.
“No,” she said. “It makes her dangerous to underestimate.”
Then she turned the photograph toward the camera.
For three seconds, she said nothing.
She let the audience see it.
The kitchen.
The baby.
The first jar.
Her handwriting on the label.
Victor’s younger face beside her.
Then Sabrina opened the red leather notebook on her lap.
“This is the original formula book for Haven & Hart,” she said. “Every page is dated. Every receipt is copied. Every investor email is archived. I am not showing this because I want revenge.”
She paused.
“I am showing this because my daughter deserves to know the truth about the company she thinks she inherited from her father.”
Mia covered her mouth.
The viewer count jumped again.
Seventy-eight thousand.
Then one hundred thousand.
Across the city, phones began lighting up inside hotel rooms, bars, cars, and the after-party Celeste was still attending.

At 12:06 a.m., Celeste Hart saw her mother’s face on someone else’s phone.
At 12:07, Victor did too.
