"She was over fifty, calm, elegant, and completely unknown. Five minutes into her livestream, thousands of strangers couldn’t look away."
CHAPTER 1 - THE LIVESTREAM
Sabrina Lane went live at exactly 11:57 p.m. with a gold bracelet on her wrist and a secret under her hand.
At first, only thirty-four people were watching.
That was enough.
She sat in a wine-colored velvet chair near the window of her apartment in downtown Chicago. Behind her, the city lights shimmered through soft beige curtains. A ring light reflected in her eyes. Her silver-blonde hair fell neatly over one shoulder, and her burgundy silk blouse made her look calm enough to be untouchable.
Her assistant, Mia, stood behind the phone tripod, checking the laptop.
“Sabrina,” Mia whispered. “Are you sure you want to do this tonight?”
Sabrina adjusted the gold bracelet slowly.
“Yes.”
Her voice was warm, steady, almost intimate.
The number on the screen climbed from thirty-four to two hundred.
Then nine hundred.
Then three thousand.
Mia stared at the laptop. “Sabrina... thousands are watching.”
Sabrina did not flinch.
She looked straight into the phone camera and smiled like a woman who had spent years practicing silence.
“I know why you came back,” she said softly.
The comments moved too fast to read.

Most people thought she was just another elegant older woman with pretty lighting and a mysterious voice.
They had no idea she was about to destroy a family empire without raising her voice.
