Richard froze.
Vanessa looked toward the hallway.
Daniel’s eyes narrowed.
“What camera?” Richard asked, but his voice had changed.
Emily turned toward the open double doors.
“The one you installed after your father’s watch disappeared,” she said. “The hallway camera. The one you forgot points directly through those doors when they’re open.”
Daniel looked over his shoulder.
Above the hallway console table, half-hidden beneath a gold-trimmed arch, a tiny black security camera blinked.
Richard’s face drained.
Vanessa whispered, “You said those didn’t record audio.”
Emily looked at her.
That one sentence gave Vanessa away.
Daniel pulled out his phone.
“I requested access from the security company this morning,” he said. “Richard refused to provide household footage for the financial investigation, so I had the court order served downstairs ten minutes ago.”
Richard stepped toward him. “You had no right.”
Daniel did not blink.
“You shoved my sister in a room full of cameras.”
Emily rose slowly from the sofa.

Her knees shook.
But she stood.
