Chapter 10 - THE MAN WHO WANTED TO STEAL A LEGACY HE NEVER BUILT

Silas finally admitted when he learned the truth about Dad.
Five months before the hospital.
Adrian showed him documents proving Marcus controlled Vale Meridian’s earliest investors.
Silas described the moment as devastating.
“For seven years I thought I built something no one gave me.”
“You did build something.”
“With your father underneath it.”
“With capital. Companies use capital.”
“Not secretly from their wife’s father.”
“I didn’t know.”
“That made it worse.”
The major twist was not that Marcus was a hidden kingpin.
It was that Adrian used the myth of Marcus to convince Silas that Vale Meridian had never truly belonged to him.
Three earlier events changed meaning.
Silas’s obsession with removing my name from presentations began after he learned Dad had invested.
His sudden support for Harbor Nine’s refinancing came because Adrian promised to replace “Marcus’s money” with independent capital.
And his relationship with Odalys accelerated because she constantly framed me as the bridge through which Marcus controlled him.
Silas wanted to erase me because he believed erasing me would finally prove the company was his.
Adrian knew that if Silas pushed me out, Vale Meridian would become financially vulnerable.
Then Harbor Nine could acquire the intellectual property.
Victor Cole’s role was darker but smaller.
Decades earlier, Victor helped Dad exit a waterfront dispute without bloodshed after Marcus testified quietly in a state racketeering investigation.
Victor believed Marcus owed him lifelong loyalty for not exposing that cooperation.
Adrian grew up hearing a different story.
Marcus had abandoned men who made him rich, gone legitimate, then built a fortune while Victor’s family declined.
Adrian wanted Vale Meridian partly for money.
Partly to humiliate Marcus.
He used Silas as the willing door.
The hospital confrontation was not the mastermind’s grand plan.
It was Silas’s desperate attempt to force through documents before Harbor Nine’s refinancing collapsed.
