I did not cause the fraudulent divorce process.
I did not cause his corporate conflicts.
But I had spent years hiding behind independence.
That needed admitting too.
When Eleanor offered financial help after my mother died, I refused reflexively.
When she asked if I wanted to understand the trust structure, I said:
“Someday.”
When Ethan complained about feeling like an outsider to the Reynolds family, I dismissed him.
“You make more money than I do. Stop acting intimidated.”
That was crueler than I understood.
Ethan's insecurity was his responsibility.
But I had mocked it instead of talking about it.
I also let him answer for me professionally.
When he told Eleanor I didn't want board work, I was annoyed.
Then grateful.
I never corrected the record.
When colleagues assumed I left Meridian Crest voluntarily for lifestyle reasons, I let them.
Admitting the marriage had affected my career felt humiliating.
So I protected the image of an easy decision.
Our marriage was built on parallel secrecy long before his became betrayal.

The difference was consequences.
I did not secretly obtain a divorce.
Still, understanding my role mattered because I did not want to rebuild the same architecture elsewhere.
I began therapy.
Not because my lawyers recommended it.

That became a habit.
