Whitmore’s lenders remained nervous.

Two luxury clients delayed signing construction agreements.

Subcontractors demanded deposits before returning to job sites.

Employees began choosing sides.

Melissa sent a company-wide email describing Anastasia as a disgruntled spouse trying to destroy the enterprise Callan’s father built.

Nina refused to circulate it.

For the first time, someone inside Whitmore openly changed sides.

Nina provided the board with the PR invoice, the attempted transfer request, and the camera transcript. She demanded an independent committee investigate Callan, Melissa, Brooklyn, and Solterra.

The board placed Nina on administrative leave for “exceeding counsel authority.”

She called Anastasia from the parking garage.

“I have two kids in college and a mortgage in Arcadia,” she said. “I cannot pretend this is brave.”

“It is still right.”

“That does not make it affordable.”

Anastasia understood.

Her own hotel bill was rising. Her company salary had been suspended. Callan controlled the joint household account under a temporary preservation agreement that allowed only ordinary expenses. Dana required a significant retainer for the business litigation.

Anastasia sold municipal bonds she had planned to hold for retirement.

The truth was costing everyone who touched it.

Brooklyn left three voicemails.

In the first, she accused Anastasia of destroying the family.

In the second, she said Callan had lied about what would happen at dinner.

In the third, she asked whether Anastasia intended to give the video to prosecutors.
