Technicians recovered deleted scheduling notes from Daniel’s phone and laptop. They also reconstructed the cloud folder attached to the hidden camera.

Daniel had organized the recordings into three phases.

Emergency event.

The final phase was scheduled for the morning Sarah opened the garage.

At 7:15 a.m., Daniel planned to call 911.

A draft script appeared in his notes:

My pregnant wife locked herself in our detached garage after refusing care. She is confused, violent and may harm the baby. I have tried to help but she believes I am controlling her.

He planned to remove the padlock, carry the rats outside and place the forged refusal form inside the house before responders arrived.

The hidden phone would upload selected footage showing Emily crying, striking the wire and repeating that someone was watching her.

The recordings of Daniel withholding water and directing her responses were marked for deletion.

Three earlier clues changed meaning at once.

He held Emily’s regular phone so she could not contradict his account.

He created the refusal form so medical staff would expect noncompliance.

He recorded her beneath the blanket because the camera angle hid the outside lock and made the pen resemble a barrier she had entered herself.

Daniel had not lost control and trapped Emily impulsively.

He had been constructing an emergency that would allow police and medical staff to complete the confinement for him.

The rats, hunger and sleeplessness were methods for producing the appearance of psychiatric collapse.

Patricia Sloan’s consultation notes confirmed that Daniel wanted advice about “transitioning the subject into institutional care.” She insisted she thought he meant persuading Emily to seek treatment.

Detective Harris did not accept the explanation.

The prosecutor expanded the investigation to include planned evidence fabrication and interference with medical care. Patricia received notice to preserve all communications and business records.

The report also revealed Daniel’s motive.

A deleted financial worksheet estimated what he would need to keep the house after divorce. He could not afford the mortgage, business debt and support obligations.
