The storage receipt completed the timeline.
Robert had reserved a unit in Troutdale on Monday morning.
Helen contacted the hospital Monday afternoon.
Brianna photographed and listed Laura’s belongings Tuesday.
Laura’s rent became due Wednesday.
The locks were changed the following week, after Laura spent nearly every night at Mia’s bedside.
The late payment had not caused the plan.
It had been inserted into the plan afterward.
Elise organized the evidence by date rather than emotion.
The court would receive the bank transfers, account statements, hospital call logs, school records, resale listings, photographs of the upstairs bedroom, Daniel’s messages from Helen, and Brianna’s sworn declaration.
Laura’s therapist provided a concise report confirming that Laura had voluntarily sought treatment after Mia’s birth, had remained compliant with care, and had shown no recent signs that she posed a danger to herself or her child.
Dana documented Laura’s presence during rounds, medication training, dialysis consultations, and discharge planning.
Mia’s nephrologist confirmed that Laura had followed every medical instruction since discharge.
Daniel submitted a parenting plan offering transportation, two weekly check-ins, and alternating weekends once Mia’s health allowed. It was not a romantic reconciliation. It was a practical admission that Laura should never have carried the entire burden.
Laura also cataloged what had been lost.
Mia’s bed.
Laura’s work desk.
Winter clothing.
Schoolbooks.
Kitchen supplies.
A box of photographs from Mia’s first year.
She stopped when she reached Clover.
Brianna had confirmed the rabbit remained in the upstairs room.
“Do you want it returned before the hearing?” Elise asked.
Laura pictured Helen placing Clover on a bed prepared for a child she intended to separate from her mother.
“No,” she said. “Let the photograph show where they put it.”
The final exhibits were filed three days before the hearing.
Robert’s attorney called Elise within an hour and requested another settlement discussion.
This time, the offer included repayment for some belongings.
It still required Laura to keep the financial records private and allow Robert and Helen direct access to Mia.
Laura closed the email.
“They’re still trying to buy the same thing,” she said.
Elise nodded. “Then tomorrow is their last chance to accept accountability before the evidence becomes part of the hearing.”
