Chapter 10 - The Secret They Had Both Been Protecting
The major truth came from Northline’s bank records.
Eric Dawson cooperated after receiving legal advice.
His explanation was devastatingly ordinary.
Northline began as a legitimate referral arrangement.
Then Brian asked him to start invoicing Hayes Renovation for extra amounts.
Eric kept a percentage.
Returned the rest.
Classic concealment through inflated vendor billing.
But the reason mattered.
Brian was not only hiding gambling losses.
He was hiding how deeply insolvent Hayes Renovation had become.
Three years earlier, Brian personally guaranteed equipment leases and short-term business debt.
When projects failed, he faced personal exposure.
